Sights and Sounds of Quebec Winter Carnival Earn Telly Award From Among 12,000 Competitors
Ronkonkoma – A warm and delightful report from the World famous Winter Carnival in Quebec, Canada, brought home a top award for outstanding video production to The National Video Journalist Network (NVJN).
The report earned the Bronze prize at the recent 35th Annual Telly Awards.
“With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and several other countries, this is truly an honor,” said Waldo Cabrera, Executive Producer of the National VJ Network. “Not only have we produced award-winning stories about Long Island and our neighbors, but now we are truly and officially International!”
The backdrop for the report, “Fantastic Winter Family Fun: Quebec City’s Winter Carnival,” included striking images of ice sculptures, an ice castle, ice hotel, snow baths, hot tubs, and frozen maple syrup treats, as enjoyed by enthusiastic visitors from throughout the world.
“We embrace winter,” said Paule Bergeron of Quebec City Tourism, responsible for the 60th anniversary of the festival. Bundled-up but smiling warmly, Bergeron shared details about the event, as Cabrera expertly supplied the amazing images and faces to illustrate her descriptions.
As Bergeron and visitors embraced winter, the Telly Award judges clearly embraced Cabrera’s report: A prestigious panel of over 500 judges, each an accomplished industry professional, evaluated outstanding local, regional and cable TV programs, commercials and films from among TV stations, production companies, agencies and corporate video departments throughout the world.
The NVJN submission was also rated by the Internet community via YouTube, and is another example of how independent producers of high quality, local programming are breaking out from the traditional boundaries of transmitters and cables, and using their skills and modern means to bring the World closer together.
“Producing the Carnival is like riding a roller coaster,” said Bergeron, “You go through all kinds of emotions, but when it’s over you say, ‘That’s awesome, let’s do it again!’”
